Hard Times Cincinnati Chili Recipe

Recipe Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 lbs regular grind beef

  • 1 1/2 cups water

  • One 2-ounce packet of spice mix

  • One 15-ounce can tomato sauce

  • One 6-ounce can tomato paste

  • One small onion, diced

  • One tablespoon white vinegar

Recipe Directions

Combine meat and water into cooking pot and boil. Mix in packet of spice mix (2-oz bag) once meat is browned. Add tomato sauce, tomato paste, vinegar and onion. Mix thoroughly. Cook uncovered for 30 minutes to 1 hour at medium heat, stirring occasionally. Cincinnati chili has a soupy consistency. Cook beans in separate pot and combine when serving. To be authentic, serve with oyster crackers in a side dish.
